The initiative, titled the “L’Oréal Cosmetics Glass Bottle Recycling Program,” aims to showcase the regeneration potential and inherent value of cosmetic glass bottles through functional designs.

The materials used include cosmetic glass bottles, processed glass sand, and crushed glass fragments. The project is led by Associate Professor Li Zhi-Yu from the Architecture Department at Ming Chuan University, with fourth-year students working on the research and application of circular materials in architectural designs.

Students gradually became familiar with circular materials, which involved an exploration process that included reports to L’Oréal’s Sustainability team, field teaching sessions, expert talks, and discussions with users. Over the course of one semester, architecture students at Ming Chuan University produced tangible results at the Daan Elementary School in Taoyuan. They designed and constructed 1:1 campus seating using recycled materials. The project faced various challenges, such as structural adjustments, detailed drawings, and discussions with stakeholders.

The completed campus seating was donated to Daan Elementary School, which is known for its sustainable campus initiatives, constructed using recycled cosmetic glass bottles.

#ArchitectureDepartment #MingChuanUniversity #MingChuanArchitecture #MingChuan #MingChuanUniversityTaoyuanCampus #Architecture #CircularMaterials #Experiment

This project is a collaboration between the Ming Chuan University Architecture Department and L’Oréal, focusing on exploring the potential for recycling glass materials and creating a circular economy that generates new product value.
