“Waves of Light,” designed by Zheng Shuyun, a first-year student in the Department of Architecture, uses the concept of “turning waste into gold.” The installation incorporates discarded bamboo strips from a typhoon and plastic materials from design courses, emphasizing the “reuse” of materials. This unique approach earned the silver award.
Another work by a first-year architecture student, “Geometric Realm,” designed by Chen Huansheng, won the bronze award. This installation is made from discarded wood materials from a construction site and is one of the most popular pieces in the park.
The exhibition’s theme centers on “sustainability” and “light,” with the competition focusing on “sustainability, experimentation, and innovation.” The competition began in July 2024 and received 106 submissions, from which 9 were selected for the final round, along with 16 honorable mentions. Additionally, 2 special awards were given to high school participants.
The first “Sustainable Light Environment Creative Exhibition” runs from December 20, 2024, to March 9, 2025, at Chung Yuan Creative Park. The exhibition is divided into outdoor and indoor areas in four warehouses. Finalist works are presented physically in the park, alongside design plans and creative concepts.
