Ming Chuan University (MCU) has taken another significant step toward internationalization! In 2026, MCU was officially included in the list of approved institutions by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM), making it the fourth university in Taiwan—and currently the only private university—to receive this approval. Moving forward, MCU students from all academic disciplines can apply for a Training Employment Pass (TEP) when undertaking professional internships at Singaporean enterprises, opening up more opportunities for overseas internships and international career transitions.
According to Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower regulations, foreign students participating in professional internships at local companies must originate from an approved institution to be eligible for a TEP. Previously, only three public universities in Taiwan—National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Cheng Kung University—were included on this list. MCU’s official addition to the TEP-approved list will further expand pathways for students to intern at companies in Singapore.
Assoc. Prof. Jeanna Lee, Associate Dean of the School of Design, who actively promoted MCU’s inclusion on the TEP-approved list, stated that the university continues to expand international university and corporate partnerships—including exchange programs, overseas internships, and industry-academic collaborations—to create more opportunities for students to connect with the global stage.
In 2026, through the Ministry of Education’s “New Southbound Policy – New Southbound Pilot Program,” MCU facilitated an in-depth internship for Architecture student Yen-Hung Huang at Takenaka Singapore Pte Ltd, a globally renowned construction company. Additionally, in 2025, the university assisted Architecture students Yueh-Yu Chen and Hsiang-Yun Wu in conducting international off-site learning at Sunray Woodcraft Construction Pte Ltd, a major interior fit-out enterprise in Singapore. During their time there, they visited the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore and received encouragement from Ambassador Chen-Yuan Tung. Notably, after graduation, Yueh-Yu Chen was hired by SUNRAY and is currently employed in Singapore.
MCU’s inclusion in the Singapore Ministry of Manpower’s approved school list will unlock more overseas internship possibilities, making the TEP a crucial stepping stone for MCU students to transition into international careers.
