MCU’s Architecture Dept. assisted in transforming the Li-Hua Community in Jiali, Tainan, by creating a new landscape inspired by the area’s sugar and iron heritage.

MCU’s Architecture Dept. collaborated with the Jiali Dist. Li-Hua Community Development Association in Tainan for the “112th Tainan Corner Landscape Design Project.” Over the summer, students completed the “Joyful Li, Transformed into Happiness” landscape project, revamping the “Sugar and Iron Waiting Pavilion” into a new community landmark. Guided by prof. Liang Minggang and Liang Yechi, the project integrated historical elements of the sugar and iron industry with modern design, earning recognition as an outstanding achievement.
Through innovative installations and seating areas, the project aims to provide a serene space for locals and attract tourists, contributing to sustainable urban development and community engagement.
